Michaela + Wyatt | Lakeside Engagement Session | Black Hills Wedding Photographer

Michaela & Wyatt were the sweetest couple. They actually booked me over a year ago and I’ve been anxiously awaiting their engagement session ever since. These two have pretty crazy schedules but it finally worked to plan their Black Hills engagement session when they were back in the area. I knew they wanted to incorporate water – um, yes please! – so we decided to go to Pactola, one of my favorite lakes in the hills. We lucked out, too: we managed to hit peak fall colors and I’ve never seen the reds pop so much! We’ve been so fortunate with an absolutely beautiful fall, and this day was no exception. Nearly 80 degrees, gorgeous sunshine, and pretty much the whole lake to ourselves. Although we were dealing with bright morning sunlight, I absolutely love how their session turned out. These two have so much genuine joy and connection. They were so easy to pose and very quickly an hour session turned into an entire morning together, but in the best way. We trekked all over the lake, hopped some fences, and played in the water. It was such an amazing session and I’m even more excited for their summer wedding next year! Congrats Michalea & Wyatt!
